// Company

We serve the missions that mainstream technology underserves.

Pathfinder Security Advisors is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that translates recurring, high-consequence operating problems into durable software products.

// Who We Are

A company that likes to solve problems with technology.

Security-sensitive organizations are routinely forced to choose between generic software that does not fit, and custom development that never becomes a sustainable product. Pathfinder exists to close that gap.

True to our name, our mission is to find the most efficient path to empower national security stakeholders. With deep experience across secure environments, we build for the operating environment as it actually is: sensitive information, explicit authority, constrained networks, and decisions that carry consequence.

// Mission

Build specialized software solutions that make difficult, security-sensitive operations more controlled, efficient, actionable, and accountable.

// Vision

Modernize secure system design by bridging the gap between rigid security requirements and modern, forward-leaning engineering.

// Core Values

  • Security-First Engineering
  • Efficiency by Design
  • Mission-Focused Agility
  • Uncompromising Discretion

// Product & Engineering Philosophy

Our Philosophy.

01

Products over projects

Recurring operating problems deserve durable solutions — not patchwork.

02

The environment is the requirement

Information boundaries, deployment constraints, and failure modes are design inputs, not deployment surprises.

03

Operational truth before presentation

The record must reflect reality before it is made to look good.

04

Authority and accountability are explicit

Who may decide, approve, publish, and resolve is governed by the software — not assumed around it.

05

Show, don’t tell

Working software in a live environment beats any slide deck. We lead with demonstrations.

06

Depth over sprawl

Deep, supportable capability inside a product’s boundaries — not a pile of bolt-ons past its edges.

// Leadership & Team

Our Problem Solvers.

Joseph Coulombre is a security and intelligence professional with deep expertise in national security operations, cybersecurity, and classified program protection. His career spans the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community with roles at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, The MITRE Corporation, and as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, where he served as a HUMINT Collector and Arabic linguist. As a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), he brings a dual focus on both operational risk and technical innovation to craft secure, effective solutions.

Joseph has spent his career navigating the complexities of the classified regulatory environment, where he has excelled at balancing both compliance and mission velocity. He has a passion for problem-solving and looks to bridge the gap between rigid security requirements and modern, forward-leaning engineering. Driven by his vision to modernize secure system design, he founded Pathfinder Security Advisors while completing his MBA at the UVA Darden School of Business.

Joseph also holds a Master's degree in Global Security Studies from Johns Hopkins University, where his research on Sub-Saharan counterterrorism strategy has been referenced by US Government organizations. Outside of work, Joseph is a classically trained musician, avid puzzle solver, and consistently optimistic (yet self-aware) golfer.

Robert Wheeler

Lead Software Architect

Robert Wheeler is a software architect with over 20 years of experience engineering secure, high-assurance systems for national security and healthcare environments. Robert is an expert in all variants of the .NET framework and SQL Server platforms. Throughout his career, Robert has led the development of numerous high-profile systems that are still in use today by the U.S. Government.

At Pathfinder Security Advisors, Robert leads the design of secure, compliant, and mission-critical systems that enforce auditable information exchange and data integrity. Previously, Robert held FAA certification and developed software supporting telemetry operations for satellites tracking aircraft from geosynchronous orbit. Additionally, in collaboration with The MITRE Corporation, Robert developed a novel secure point-to-point video teleconferencing (VTC) solution, overcoming the obstacles of NSA encryption and secure key infrastructure.

Robert is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather with deep ties to military service. His son served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Air Crew Chief on the V-22 Osprey and participated in the 2021 Afghanistan evacuation. Off duty, Robert enjoys marksmanship, restoring classic cars, and amateur radio (call sign KB1ZZP), reflecting his lifelong interest in communications and signal integrity.

Andrei Kersha

Lead Software Engineer

Andrei Kersha is an experienced software engineering, quality assurance, and data systems professional with an extensive resume of building, testing, and optimizing complex enterprise applications and large-scale data platforms. His technical background spans software development, test automation, data warehousing, ETL pipelines, database performance, cloud computing, full-stack development, and applied data science.

Throughout his career, Andrei has held technical and leadership roles at IBM, Iron Mountain, Black Duck Software, and Viziant Corporation. As Worldwide Technical Lead for IBM’s ASC program, he supported performance tuning, system sizing, benchmarking, load testing, profiling, database optimization, and data analytics. At Iron Mountain, he contributed to software engineering efforts supporting one of the world’s largest private digital archives. At Viziant Corporation, Andrei served as Director of Quality Assurance, Content, and Customer Support for a knowledge-discovery startup developing visual representations of interconnected information compiled from large, multilingual data feeds.

At Pathfinder Security Advisors, Andrei applies this multidisciplinary background to the development and assurance of reliable, data-driven software solutions. He brings particular strength in evaluating complex system behavior, improving software quality, analyzing large datasets, and translating technical information into dependable products and customer outcomes.

Andrei earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and also completed the Applied Data Science Program through MIT Professional Education, expanding his expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, deep learning, predictive modeling, recommender systems, and data visualization.

Reagan Damoose
